Wab.

I cannot say for certain whether they (Jews and Christians or for that matter, even other Muslim scholars) do or don’t accept this interpretation, perhaps they may not even be aware of this view or the interpretations of it. My research has noted the following about the Biblical “Paran”:

[1] Smith’s Bible Dictionary (A Jove Book publication, New York, USA) states – “Paran, El-Paran : the name Paran corresponds probably in general outline with the desert Et-Tih. [KADESH.] Between the wilderness of Paran and that of Zin no strict demarcation exists in the narrative, nor do the natural features of the region yield a well-defined boundary.”

[2] In a map appended to the Good News Bible (United Bible Societies, 1978), on the Sinai Peninsula there are four wildernesses marked:

a. wilderness of Shur (north-western bordering Egypt),

b.wilderness of Sin (at the southern tip of Sinai peninsula),

c. wilderness of Zin (just south of Judea), and

d. further south of this is the wilderness of Paran (which stretches into the centre of Sinai peninsula as well towards the south-eastern border of Sinai peninsula linking it to the Arabian peninsula of what is known then as the land of Midian.

Thus, the wilderness of Paran was the extreme known geographical boundary which connect to Arabia. It would be reasonable to include the idea of “the wilderness” to anything unknown,in the case of Paran, the peninsula of Arabia as it was still largely an unknown territory then.

[3] For further reading on the subject, go to:

“Paran in the Bible is Mecca today” (http://www.answering-christianity.com/paran.htm)

The sections of this article are:

1- Paran in the Bible is Mecca today.
2- Abraham peace be upon him sent Hagar and Ishmael to Paran.
3- Mecca, Bacca and Paran.
4- More Verses on Paran.
5- Ka’abah (the cube black building in Mecca) and Mecca.
6- Paul in the book of Galatians and the most recent Archaeological Discoveries suggest that Mount Sinai is in Saudi Arabia and NOT in Egypt's Sinai desert.
7- Christian Archeologists prove from the Bible that Mount Sinai is in "Saudi Arabia" today.
8- Muhammad in the Bible, (Isaiah 60), Pilgrimage to Mecca..!
9- References/Links.

WaAllaahu a’lamZhulkeflee Bin Haji Ismailhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09546529393463813852noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5650525314400955812.post-43660066149214762232008-10-31T22:40:00.000-07:002008-10-31T22:40:00.000-07:00Salam,Respected Ustaz Thanks for sharing your thou...Salam,

Respected Ustaz

Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us.
